Wishing you a blessed and happy Imbolc! I hope this email finds you really well and happy! Did you know the word “Imbolc” means literally “in the belly” in the old Irish Neolithic language, referring to the pregnancy of ewes. Being one of the four major fire festivals in the old Irish Calendar, it is a time of celebrating life gestating and stirring and getting ready to burst to life in the Spring.
So what is stirring for you? What is bubbling under the surface for you, waiting to be birthed?
I know for me, I have been really busy working, with a colleague, in the background on some online programmes and I cannot wait to share these with you soon! As a matter of fact this baby feels overdue!! and SO ready to be birthed into the world.
On a personal level I have spent a lot of time in introspection, reflecting on who I am, who I am to others and also what my purpose is in this life. Yeah I know!! Deep stuff!! 🙂 But that is just me – I think I might be part mermaid… as there is always a part of me diving into the deep waters, and then I come up for air every so often! lol
I have been on a deep spiritual and emotional journey over the last 12 years! At times I have felt like I have been turned inside out, upside down and the other way around. 🙂 and then the spiral will come around again for another deeper level. I have done so much work, and have expanded and evolved on a spiritual and emotional level. I realised that in this process of healing, expanding and developing I have not been as diligent in my self love and self care. Now in saying that I have always made sure, and also with the help of my supervisor, included some sort of self care into my life. But this year I have decided to take it up a notch. (and I have to say one of the programmes that we have designed has really helped me to refocus on what is important in self care)
I have decided to really focus on my physical health for awhile, to bring it into balance with all the spiritual and emotional expansion that I have been doing. So throughout January, I was on 21 day Juicing and healthy eating programme, to really give my body the reboot it needed to get healthy and happy and I have to say I am loving it. Choosing foods that are vibrant with energy and life, and offering that to the temple that houses my Soul Self. With all that new energy I upped my exercise regime and my body feels so happy. I am intending to keep it up as my body is the only place I have to live… Just like you have to keep your house in good nick, so that it doesn’t fall apart around you.
For February I am including more Self-Love into the mix. Yes, looking after the food I consume, and the exercise I do certainly is a form of Self-Love, yet again it is time to include the deeper aspects of myself, Self-Talk, Doing things for me out of love instead of habit or obligation. And this can be as simple as asking myself a question: “Will doing this be out of love for me?” I know this is a way deeper topic than what I am touching on in here. And maybe I will do another post somewhere in the month to let you know how the journey is going. But overall I hope I have sparked a Self-Love thought in your being… What can you do today that is an act of Self-Love?
The Talking Stick is free to pick up, I would love to hear from you, leave a comment below.
May you walk in beauty,
What do you do when life throws you lemons?? I have had one of the most challenging July’s in a very long time and at some point felt buried under the “lemons” HA! Jeezz Louise… freak out much?! lol
Some of the Lemons I caught like a pro lemon-catcher, others I ducked and dived and watched the Lemon swoosh by, others… welll…. lets just say I have invented a new way of being buried… alive… lol Not as dramatic as that… but it was not funny at the time and I did not know how I will get out of the heap of lemons… hindsight is 20/20 as they say.
One thing I did learn about this lemony July is all the different ways I deal with things and how I cope better with certain situations than others. With some of it I was proud of myself that I have learned the skill of making lemonade and with others well… brings new learning and uncovering and healing of wounds old and new.
I also reviewed my self-care and what I need in order to remain grounded when challenge comes knocking on my door. So with this months Talking Stick… let’s put up a lemonade stand and share how we deal with challenges, and make lemonade out of those lemons!
So I’m squeezing the first lemon for the lemonade stand…
One thing I have learned is that I need some quiet space to hear my inner voice and wisdom.
So, your turn… the Talking Stick is available to pick up and share below how you make lemonade out of those dang lemons!! 🙂
As always I am sending you much love and blessings.
May you walk in beauty!
I hope this month’s Talking Stick finds you well and happy and surfing the up and down Summer weather like a pro! 😉
I sure have enjoyed the good sunny days that we’ve had and make sure that I soak up every bit of the light as much as I can. Which reminds me… The Summer Solstice Celebration night was so much fun, and we all ended the evening feeling a bit lighter and brighter and more “into” ourselves! 😀
What do I mean by that? Well I suppose being more “into” yourself can be interpreted in many different ways. However, after the Solstice Celebration I have been thinking about the whole idea of letting your own light shine, and how important that is that everybody shines their OWN light. That you bring your own authentic energy to the world. By doing so, you free yourself from other’s expectations of who they think you should be, but also you are busy generating and shining your own light, so your expectations of who they should be changes also. Marianne Williamson puts it so beautifully in “A return to Love” that “When you shine your own light, you automatically give others permission to do the same.” I know.. I know… Much easier said than done, hey?! I suppose when we spend enough time with our own inner light and how we are connected to the Divine, the more we get acquainted with our True Nature. We get to grow our own authentic light, by growing it one spark at a time. How? I hear you ask… Well I can narrow it down to a few things that I have found helpful over the years:
- By doing things that you love to do – Follow your bliss! There is nothing that can re-ignite someones inner light than when they practice something that they love to do.
- By surrounding you with people who love and accept you and allow you to be exactly who you are – not their version of who they think you should be. Nothing like a fellow “weirdo” that gets your “weirdness” and gives you the space to be your version of you.
- Listen to your body and follow practices that help you to feel more like “yourself”. From Meditation, Diet, Exercise etc. Anything that feels true to your “energy” right now. You might feel like going vegetarian for a while or take up a specific exercise or meditation. Follow the simple prompts that your body and your soul gives. Honour your inner voice
- Be Courageous! Following your own path and doing things your way takes courage, but the rewards are so much more, than replicating someone else’s life or work. A good measurement to know if you are on your own path… Carlos Castaneda’s words: “Does this path have a heart? If it does, the path is good; if it doesn’t it is of no use.” Is your own heart on the path you’re considering to take?
I have an uncle who always add to his goodbyes… “let your little light shine” and it is something I will always remember about him – even when he lives half a world away. In his own way he always gives his permission and request to shine my own light, and for that I am grateful – to have people like him in my world, that wants me to be me and to shine my light into the world.
I hope you have people in your life who wants you to shine your own light in the world and who cultivates your inner spark into a flame that burns brightly. If not, make a point of reaching out to and meeting up with people who you resonate with and can reflect your own light back to you.
So, what can you do today that will make your light shine a bit brighter. It might be something that you need to do, or it might be something that you need to stop doing… Yes! whatever it is that you are thinking about right now… 😉
I am passing on the Talking Stick. If you choose to pick it up, I am here to hear you. I would love to hear how you fuel your inner light or how you might want to make some changes that will allow you to shine brighter. You can pick up the Talking Stick by leaving a comment down below.
