Reconnecting you to your True Nature

Tips if you are experiencing “a dark night of the soul”

I have to say generally I love this time between the hustle and bustle of Christmas and the start of the New Year! Taking time out, spending it and sharing it with some of the amazing people in my life or just in solitude. Its a time when I like to reflect on the previous year- look at goals achieved and those not achieved and dreaming in the New Year!

This year however… I found this quite challenging!! What is going on with the planets people??!! lol Reflecting on where I am in my life, goals achieved, those not achieved really brought up a lot of old wounds for me… Jeez… How many angles is there to look at this stuff?? Staying with it, feeling it all, reflecting and journeying on it brought me the insights I needed to pull through it once again. I’m telling you… I’m mastering the “hero’s journey” at this stage! Taking the journey, facing the dragons, slaying the dragons and once again returning home to tell the story! Phew! Doesnt make it any less challenging though!

So here are some of my tips if you are experiencing “a dark night of the soul”

Stay with the feelings and feel ALL of it

I know its hard and all you want to do is run away from what is painful or shameful or angry. These feelings though have a very important message for you about your soul’s evolution and growth. Fleeing from it, brushing it to the side, sweeping it under the carpet or plastering over it will not make it go away! As a matter of fact it just becomes stagnant energy waiting for an opportunity to erupt. Going into these feelings more, lessen their grip. It might not feel like it at first, but just like standing still in the murky water of a pond – the water becomes clear once again. If we keep running around in the pond trying to get away from the murkiness the more we churn up the gunk! So be still, embrace and let the clarity return.

Ink it don’t think it

Journal, draw, paint, collage, write, type, record… Do whatever you need to do to get it out of your head, heart and onto paper, computer, ipad etc. When you carry these thoughts and feelings around in your head and heart it breeds GOBLINS!! Those little nasty critters that bear mostly negative statements and fear! Have you heard this saying?

fear is the little dark room where negatives are developed

Well that is the point of journalling – bring it out in the open where it can be exposed and looked at. We often have the additional fear ontop of all the others that when I write these things down it actually becomes true… Well sorry to inform you if it lives and breeds in your head, there is part that believes its true already! And it is much harder to face an opponent in the dark… Bring it out into the light where you can face it head on! You might be surprised, that these fears and negative thoughts seem alot bigger in the dark – just like the “boogie man”!

Ask for help

If you feel you cannot face these things alone once you have the written out – ask for help! Get someone to help you process and make sense of it all… Ask a friend, family or gift yourself the time to go the a life coach, therapist or counsellor to help you work through it. There are also many online courses, lifestyle diaries etc to help you on this journey. Open yourself up to the supports around you and the right person, course or self-help guide will emerge.

When the student is ready, the master appears

If in anyway I can help you on your Hero’s Journey get in touch. I will be honoured to walk your journey with you.
